At the 23rd I will have my thesis defense and if everything goes as plan I ll be officially pimped into a HRQM graduate.

The reality for sure will be that I will no longer be a full-time student, who studies properly on time for her exam and pass it with flying colours. No more 9 to 9 working at the airbox study room, no more chat with the friendly back-office ladies, restaurant hero Joop with his delicious sandwiches and no more the social talks with professors Da Ponte, Vinke, Chris Daniels or our Kung-Fu fighter, Oliver Ntenje our Cuma Reis and our Kazakh Friesche Piet Post. Noticeable, this shows me being too much sentiment.

However, I decided to do some research on master studies. Who knows, maybe I'll continue. I looked up on the Net and saw some interesting institutions such as TiasNimbas. We'll see...

To make an ending to this post, all in all my experience at Arnhem Business School, study abroad in Marketing Management in Denmark and 1 year of (HR)work experience at KEMA Italia was definitely an added-value to my growth in personal. I met so many people and gained new valuable friends, which I for sure will not forget and hope to keep in touch with them for many years. I have a feeling of sorrow that this stage of my life will end at the 23rd of June, but a new stage of life is waiting for me, and for sure I ll be happy to embrace this too.

Buon lavoro OR buon giorno e a presto !!

Scoprire la bella Firenze

I have 3 words for Florence and that is: Firenze è bellissima!! Together with Cinzia we took ourselves off on road to Toscany for 3 days. We stayed in hotel Baccio placed in Montelupo Fiorentino and it took us approx. 30 min driving to reach Firenze every day.

Firenze is the capital city of Tuscany and of the province of Florence. The city lies on the River Arno and is known for its history and its importance in the Middle Ages and in the Renaisssance. Especially for its art and architecture. It was the centre of medieval European trade and finance, and the city is often considered as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance; in fact, it has been called the Athens of the Middle Ages.

Some hot spots of Firenze that we have sight-seed;

-The Santa Maria del Fiore, known as the Duomo, which was built by Filippo Brunelleschi.

-Bartolomeo Ammanati's Fountain of Neptune, a masterpiece of marble sculpture at the terminus of a still functioning Roman aqueduct.

-Ponte Vecchio, with the most striking feature of the multitude of shops built upon its edges, held up by stilts.

-Church of San Lorenzo

-Basillica of Santa Maria Novella

-Uffizi Galery

-Dante's house

-and last but not least Michelangelo's tomb in Santa Croce

Besides Firenze we also went to San Gimignano (Siena), a town which is famous all over the world for its medieval towers. And you know what they say haste makes waste. Before I intended to leave the appartment I looked once again in my bag for the car keys, a ritual check-up of mine or probably like everyone. This time however I could not find the keys, it took me approx. twenty minutes to find the merda keys and then I realised I forgot them in the pocket of my jeans. Which I throw them in the washing machine and I just activated it before going to work. So there was nothing for it but to wait till the machine stopped. Called up my colleagues and told them I would run late.
Once entered the office a nice suprise followed. I am honoured to tell you that I have missed my flight for the second time of my life. And in this case the second time was worst...

The first time I missed my flight was when I went to Istanbul together with my friends. I decided to spend in the last week some time with family and friends in Turkey. I went to my family in Bursa. I had a great time with them and really did not want to finish the vacation that soon.. so deep in my thoughts I asked God ..pleaaaaassse let me stay some couple days of more...well can you imagine that my prayers have been heared???

Apparently, the time on the ticket was not correct and I did not checked it 24hrs before which was obviously very clever of me. Eventually, I could stay some couple days more in Turkey which was GREAT.

This time however, I woke up at 6.00 AM cleaned my house, packed my stuff and went on road. My colleague Gianlucius adviced me to park my car in Lambrate as I did not want to spend money on the LONG parking in Malpensa. Anyhow, I went to this place and what do I figure out? YES, not any parking place left free. Thank God the place of my friends was in the same area so I parked over there, where I am not sure whether I can park there for 2 weeks as there are the streetcleaners who clean that place once in a week.Probably I will receive a ticket... the diablo is in my surrounding I just feel it. So next step was the subway. Took the subway in Lambrate to the Central station where I arrived approximately around 11.00 AM bought my ticket and went straight to the ShuttleBus service Malpensa. Finally, settled safe and sound in the bus. However, a huge traffic in Milan gave me the nerves and it I knew that it would take some hours to my final destionation. Also did not know that we had to stop first at Terminal 2 and I needed to be at Terminal 1. And here we go another lost time. I exactly arrived at 1.00 PM and my flight was scheduled at 13.40 !!!!!!!

I hurried to the check-in and what did I found out: counter AIRBERLIN CLOSED !! I just could cry it out and was so pissed off that this was happening again to me. I directly went to the Information desk for what I could POSSIBLY do to still catch the flight, the friendly lady advised me to go downstairs to the gate where the security officers, maybe they could help me out. The friendly security officer wanted to help me and I could feel his sincerity but unfortunately his chief denied his request. So you are asking me what happened next? Fatma got in total 273 EUR lighter for another flight at the same date :-/ where she has to wait for the next flight that is around 08.30 PM and will arrive in Dusseldorf around 09.50 PM ... A hell of a day or not?

Therefore my grateful thanks goes to:

-Shuttlebus Service Malpensa, for getting me on fashionably late at the airport

-Milan Traffic, for providing me the nerves

-American students/tourist who were in the shuttlebus and just could not stop talking the whole road ( really one girl had this annoying voice and talking like.. i was like .. it is like...)

-Friendly lady of the Information Counter

-Friendly signor of security for calming me down

And last but not least

- AIRBERLIN

In commemoration of Gallipoli War 18 March 1915

Today it is the commemoration day of Gallipoli War, Canakkale Savasi, the World War I battle for control of the Dardanelles that was straight fought on Turkey's Gallipoli (Gelibolu) peninsula, with appaling casualties. Around 100,000 were killed and 400,000 wounded during the nine-month campaign (1915-1916).

The British navy (under the command of Winston Churchill) wanted very much to get its battleships through the Dardanelles and attack Istanbul to knock the Ottoman Empire, an ally of the Central Powers, out of the war. Invading armies and navies have coveted the strategic Dardanalles strait since the days of the Trojans because it controls the sea traffic between the Black Sea, the Sea of Marmara, and the Aegean/Mediterreanean. At only 1,2 km wide at its narrowest point (Kilitbahir), and over 100 meters deep, it is also the key to Istanbul: warships could conquer the city if they could get through the Dardanelles.

Ottoman forces, some of whom were commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Mustafa Kemal (later Ataturk) knew that if the British would get through the Dardanelles, it meant the conquest of Turkey. This war was reclaimed in high spirits by the Turks and showed great courage in defending the Dardanelles and every year at this day it is been commemorated.
The result of the Dardanelles failure has put an end to the British Empire's apogee. From then on Britain's influence in her dominions had gradually declined and in in 20-30 years time, the British Empire has came to and. The British has sailed for the world sovereignty but the Dardanelles campaign has misled their route.

Today, the Gallipoli battlefields are silent, preserved as a national park strewn with marble and bronze monuments, among the most emotionally touching places to visit in Turkey.

Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives..you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. Before, I didn't know anything about this singer but after some gooooglingg the result was tremendous!! How can a person look THAT much ?! I would love to share his look-alike but I think this would violate his personal property. Therefore I have added only Luis Migel's picture, where the one's, who are not familiar with this singer, can have a glimpse of my lovely colleague Gianlucius.

Luis Miguel, known as un cantante pop portoricano naturalizzato messicano, is the son of the late Spanish singer Luisito Rey and Italian -born actress Marcela Basteri. Luis Miguel has been one of the most popular singers in Latin-America since the early 1980's. Honestly, I begin to love his music. I definitely need to explore more...so many things to discover :)

Distracted...

These last couple of weeks I feel very distracted. Perhaps not willing to continue with some activities where I am engaged to or maybe because of my GA topic or it is just the spring fever. Anyways it made me re-think about my goals in my life. After graduation my intention is to work but now I have my doubts. I do like my branch do not get me wrong, but the 9-5 mentality is not designing my ideal job either. Searching on the web for follow-up studies and or applying for jobs that are not related with my study and even designing my own business.. it just made me think where and with what I want to be occupied with. Where will I see myself after 5 years? I guess I want too much and have the control in my hands, which is obviously a not-done work. As a matter of fact this shows some draws of Gemini ...yepp Astrology. To be honest I am not fully informed about Astrology and its scientific support but I did get the total picture of my own astrology sign.

Below a summary of a Gemini woman, who somewhat describes me :)

Gemini woman is extremely talkative. Her constant desire to express her views and ideas makes her a great communicator ( Modestly, I confess it is true)

Exploratory in nature, she loves to travel and discover new places and gain novel experiences; ( YES, I love to travel)

However, such individuals have a tendency to divert from their actual destination and the newfound meaning would bemore important to ther than the initial one. (Hmm..that makes sense)

Witty, charming and provocative, Gemini females are easy to approach and friendly (no comment on that one..)

A Gemini woman has an optimistic outlook in life. She tends to be very rational in her thoughts and ideas; (this lacks at the moment)

While this tendency can lead to a person being highly intelligent, versatile and quick-minded, it can also make her dispersed and metally fatigued. (Like today ...)

A Gemini woman longs to be a child at heart and will continue to do so all her life. (Is it??)

A Gemini woman love the exciting small adventures that she meets along her way in life. (Somehow true ... )

It only in middle ages that a Gemini woman would start acting mature and have a focus in life. ( Now I am worried ...)

A multi faceted individual, she has many friends and is a different person in each of the social group she belongs to. (Hmm many friends with no friends.. I would consider it as having a large network)

She has a wide range of interests and goals as well ( that explains everything ...)

A Gemini female is also a multi-tasker and can accomplish a lot of things at the same time. (true, will never ever do one task at one time- it's against my nature)

Change is essentially the most necessary part of a Gemini woman, a requisite for her emotional well being. ( somehow true.. )

I believe some paths need to be walked in order to achieve that certain level that we want and sometimes things happen because it meant to be (call it fate or destiny...) But it just worries me when I do not have the control or even when I have the control to miss that control.. Well aren't we being profound today! In short, I am just looking forward to the graduation ceremony at the end of July to experience that feeling again with that piece of paper in my pocket. Will be relieved and I know that another challenge is waiting for me.

A buon giorno and stay tuned for the next blog that probably will be published the next month as this blog took a while to be posted..

Imaginable

<img style="WIDTH: 400px; Style Magazine, which the main characters live in "Nisantasi", located in the Europian side of Istanbul. It is an important detail for this TV series, because "Nisantasi" is presented as the home town of "high"society in Istanbul.

Avrupa Yakasi is one of the most successful TV series of last year. Almost every character has created own fans.

Burhan Altintop born in Tokat but always denying his roots with often saying : "Bende zengin cocugum ben de Nisantasli cocuguum alsanizaa beni yaggaanizaa". Which means literaly: "I am also a rich kid, I am also a nisantasi kid... why don't you take me with you? ". :-)

Anyhow his Tokat accent and his odd movements makes me always laugh.

Next to the character Burhan Altintop, Sahika and Dilber Teyze are also listed in my favorite.

This sitcom shows the funny rivalry between the Anatolian and European side. Maybe because Istanbul, which is a melting pot, a city of great contrast where many possibilities arise. I think that that might be also the reason that this sitcom creates a major difference among other Turkish sitcoms.

PS: To my sorrow I found out that Mr Gazanfer Ozcan, who played the role of Tahsin amca, has passed away yesterday. May Allah bless his soul and my sincere condolence to his family and friends.

Employees <30 & >31 years

Funny picture that I run into :-) And as it is Wednesday the balanced day of every employee I thought grab ur chance and put it into your blog. The wife quickly wraps herself in a a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbour. Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 todrop that towel."

After thinking for amoment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 and leaves.

The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?" It was Bob the next door neighbor, " she replies. "Great!"the husbands says, "did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?"

Moral of the story: If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders, in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure ;-)

======================================================================
Lesson 2

A sales rep, administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out.

The Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish."

"Me first! Me first!" says the administration clerk. I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat without a care in the world. "Puff! She's gone.

"Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life. "Puff! She's gone.

"OK, you're up, "the Genie says to the manager.
The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."

Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say :-)

=======================================================================

Lesson 3

An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing?" The eagle answered: "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

=======================================================================

Lesson 4

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree,"sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy."

"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied bull,
"They're packed with nutrients."

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and fount it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.

Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree. He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there :-)

========================================================================

Lesson 5

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.
Following the sound, the cat discovered the birdunder the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Moral of the story:
(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend
(3) And when you are in deep shit, it's smart to keep your mouth shut!

Thus , ends the 3-minute management course. Now go forth and succeeed!! :-)

Turkish PM Erdoğan storms out of heated Mideast debate

Turkey's Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan stormed out of a debate on the Middle East at the World Economic Forum on Thursday, saying he might never return to the annual gathering of the rich and powerful.

Israel's President Shimon Peres had launched a fiery defense of his country's assault on Gaza over the past month and, with a raised voice and pointed finger, questioned what Erdogan would do if rockets were fired at Istanbul every night.
As the debate, which also included United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and Arab League chief Amr Moussa, was ending, Erdogan was cut short as he tried to respond.

"I don't think I will come back to Davos because you don't let me speak," the Turkish prime minister said, as he stood up and walked out of the conference hall in the Swiss ski resort.

"The president spoke for only 25 minutes. I have only spoken for half of that."
Turkey's state-run Anatolian news agency quoted Erdogan as saying to Peres: "When it comes to killing you know very well how to kill. I know very well how you killed children on the beaches."

In a hastily-called news conference, Erdogan later explained that he had been upset with both the moderation of the debate and Peres' manner.
"My reaction was directed at the moderator. I think that if we have moderation in this way, we won't really get out of Davos what we all come here to get out of Davos, and it would cast a shadow over efforts to reach peace," Erdogan said.

"President Peres was speaking to the prime minister of Turkey -- I am not just some leader of some group or tribe, so he should have addressed me accordingly," he told reporters.

30 January 2009, Friday
REUTERS DAVOS
http://video.google.nl/videosearch?q=erdogan-peres&hl=nl&emb=0&aq=f#q=peres%20osmanli%20tokadi&hl=nl&emb=0

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At Davos Economic Forum, the Turkish press was looking forward to hearing positive statements concerning the peace negotiations in Gaza and IMF's world strategies. The action that Mr. Erdogan took was shocking of course. But he was right as a Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic. This reaction of Turkey 'pm was to an injustice behaviours of moderator and Mr.Peres. As we consider the time management (his speak was about 12 min.s, half of Peres's) and the importance of the issue, the moderator's behaviour was -so to say- rude. The moderator was saying something like 'its dinner time'. One should comment on this, while people are dying and the war btw Israel and Palestine is getting more fierce, who cares about dinner? It is entirely clear that the moderator, as we look to his background David Ignatius (born to a Jewish family) an American journalist and novelist of Armenian descent, was NOT objective and contradicted his role as a moderator. This panel was the place to discuss these situation fairly and openly but unfortunately it turned into a dirty pool.

Again Prime Minister Erdogan spoke as the conscience of the entire world, not just Turkey. He showed his sensivity as PM and as a HUMAN being for the outrage, cruelty which take place in Gaza.

People we need to WAKE UP, history is repeating while we should learn from the past. Jewish Genocide in 1941,Bosnian Genocide in 1995, Rwanda Genocide in 1994. When will the cruelty stop? When will the human kind stop thinking of themselfs and start thinking of their neighbours? Where did we leave our principals of faith? Where did we leave our principals of humanity??

Aren't we the ones who are looking for 'Peace' ???

WE NEED TO START LEARNING TO LIVE TOGETHER

15 reasons Facebook may be worth $15bn

Microsoft has invested $240m (£117m) in social networking site Facebook in exchange for a 1.6% share of the company. That puts a value of $15bn (£7.3bn) on a firm that has only been in existence three and a half years.
So why does Microsoft think Facebook is worth $15bn? Here are 15 possible reasons....

1. The network has gone viral in the last 12 months, with more than 50 million users worldwide and a user base that is growing faster than great rival MySpace. According to Facebook, it adds 200,000 new users each day.

2. The average user spends 3.5 hours a month on Facebook - more than the average user on rival MySpace - which is increasingly attractive to advertisers.

3. Facebook is the current Web 2.0 darling - popular with ordinary users and "tech heads" alike.

4. US research reveals that Facebook users come from wealthier homes and are more likely to

attend college than MySpace users - increasing that attraction for advertisers.

5. Microsoft's investment makes them a serious player in the growing market of "social advertising". Social network profiles are full of personal data that users voluntarily hand over, which is very useful for targeting adverts.

6. Sixty percent of Facebook users are outside of the US - so Microsoft's investment buys access to a global audience quickly and simply.

7. Facebook is the new web: The decision to open up the network to outside developers turned Facebook into a destination for many uses, like messaging, photos and video. Of course, as Facebook is on the web it could never really be the new web.

8. Every major content firm with an online presence is either working on a Facebook application or has already launched one - from Google to the BBC.

9. According to a report, 233 million hours of work are lost each month in the UK due to staff looking at social networks. Advertisers can now target people when at their desks.

10. The openness of Facebook is attracting a wealth of talented developers who can launch their applications to millions of users quickly.

11. Facebook messaging is the new e-mail. Everyone feels stressed from a deluge of e-mail from unwanted people and companies. But Facebook messages are always from friends.

12. Facebook's "status updates" have become the easiest way to let friends know what you are doing and how you are feeling at any given moment.

13. Facebook thrives on playful applications such as Pirates, Zombies, Super Wall and Top Friends, which have made the network a place to play as well as communicate.

14. Facebook is the acceptable face of blogging - you can reflect your life and personality online without being seen as a "blogger", which often carries a geeky stigma.

15. Facebook is worth $15bn only because Microsoft says so. The value of Facebook is based on a 1.6% share of the firm being worth the $240m Microsoft paid for it. Microsoft and Google were in a bidding war for a slice of the firm and both companies have large pockets. This was not just business, this was personal, according to some analysts.

Source: BBC.co.uk

GOODMORNINGG

Sounds a bit energetic and too much of enthusiasm early in the morning but YES I had a wonderful weekend .
Started at Saturday with a visit to my friends in Lambrate and went afterwards to Rolo/Modena to their relatives house for a GODBLESSED HEAVENLY Turkish dinner.

In the beginning I was doubting whether it would be appropriate to go, because I did not know the family and joining them with dinner hmm ?? But to not offend the Turkish culture and my friend I accepted this generous invitation...
The dinner was heavenly and we had lots of fun I must say that I kind of missed that family moments and it made me realize again the appreciation towards my family. You know there is a Dutch saying: Uit het oog, uit het hart..literally translated: away from the eye, away from the heart.. This saying can be usefull for friends probably, but for family, no way!
By the way, I have booked my flight to Holland at 4 February and will re-catch 4 days of half year staying abroad.. I am so looking forward to this trip..seeing my mum my dad and my sisters back .
